Spohn TA and LPE DS

Does anyone here run an spohn ta with the 3.5 lpe ds? Do you have any clearance issues with the ds safty loop? In the process of installing the ta, it's the older style, I notice the safty loop wasn't going to clear the ds without the full wieght of the car being support by the rearend.

If there's that little clearance I'd be careful going over bumps.

This is on my 3rd gen IROC but it's pretty much the same....

I'm running the newer style TA with an LPE driveshaft and have no clearance problems. It's close but it doesn't touch. If you have a lowered car, you might have some problems. There are a couple of 3rd gen guys that have driveshaft interference with the Spohn loop and they're using stock driveshafts.

I have a pic of my "original design" Spohn TA, with DS loop around a 3.8" ACPT heavy duty CF DS, and it's tight, but it didn't hit. Not sure how the "original design" (the one with the "slider") compares to the current design.... the one with the link in place of the slider. I've got the current design, and it's very roomy with a 3" chrome moly DS.

Depending on where it's hitting, you could use some washers as shims between the two halves of the DS loop, to give you some more room up top. I've done that on mine, with a 3.5" DS.

Did you have any problems when putting your up on jackstands or anything that would remove the weight from the rearend and let it drop. While installing mine I had it up on jackstands and when I tried to install the front mount for the ta the safty loop hit the driveshaft about 1/2" to 1" from the mounting brackets. I may try and jack the car back up and leave full weight on the rearend and take some measurements on clearance with the stock ds that put back in the car to see if the lpe will fit with acceptable clearance. I'll just have to try and remember to unblot the ds before putting it on jackstands again.
