Hooker LTs... should I still do true duals or just a cat-back?

Well, after this weekend the motor is 99% finished (just need to adjust for zero lash, drop in the radiator, add fluids, and start it up.
Speed, inc. is booked well into May for x-pipe fabrication. I still haven't ruled out FLP. But this has got me thinking... should I just go with a Mufflex y-pipe and then a regular cat-back? I need some input on this... I want to get this thing running in time for Purdue's Grand Prix auto show!

I thought about true duals but decided to just go with a Mufflex Y-Pipe and Borla Catback.
I really like the way the car sounds. The reason I decided against the true duals is because I was afarid of how loud the car would be.

I like my duals, although I could never lower my car, the ground clearnce would really suck. I like being able to open up two cutouts at the track, knowing I'm getting full power, and the duals are lighter than a catback, providing you stop at the axles. I'm going to be reduing mine so that I am street legal. I'm going to run two cats off the headers and use those instead of mufflers, if need be I'll use some racing bullets to tune it, should be loud and smell good at the same time. If your not dead set on a particular brand of X pipe, summit sells them pretty cheap from what I've heard, and I don't think one brand is going to be that much better than another given the same design.
i've been throwing around an idea for the past week or soo, in order to get the flow of true duals but the mellow(er) sound of a full catback for normal daily driving.
since the mufflex ypipe has a 4" collector, i was thinking of installing a piece of 4" pipe as an intermediate pipe, ending in a 4" cutout before the axle (probably home made since 3.5" is the biggest i've seen). then having a reducer to go down to 3" pipe that would run up over the axle and through the rest of my magnaflow cat back.
this way i could open the cutout and have phenominal flow (4" has arguable flowed the same or better than duals), but around town i could have the nice sound of the catback.
just a thought

I vote for duals, it sounds so much better!! I had a Y-pipe and Borla setup on my car when I first put the longtubes on, and I kinda think it sounded like ***. The borla sounded so much better with stock manifolds and the cat, I was kinda pissed. I switched to a custom 2.5" setup, and the sound and SOTP gain was unreal! D James, where in Livonia are you? We need to meet up sometime.
