Can you grind this cam so that the same valve lifts are achieved with 1.5 ratio rockers as they are with 1.6's?

You can't grind any cam that will give you the same lift at the valve with a different rocker ratio.

Lobe lift x rocker ratio = valve lift.

If you change the rocker ratio you will change the lift at the valve.

Why?

Valve lift is a product of lobe lift multiplied by the rocker ratio.

To keep valve lift the same with a different ratio rocker you would need a different lobe lift.

Just an example:

lobe lift .350x 1.5rocker ratio= .525 valve lift
same lobe x1.6 rocker ratio= .560 valve lift

to have the same lift with the 1.5 but using a 1.6 rocker you would need to reduce lobe lift to 328.125(.525/1.6). 328.125 x 1.6 = 525

Make sense??

I understand all that, and that's what I'm asking him: if he can grind the lobes with enough lift to achieve the same (with 1.6's) valve lift with 1.5's.

It's a cam I designed to work with stock components while retaining stock idle and driveability and I think it works rather well in that application.
With ported lt1 heads and mid length headers will the idle still sound the same as stock? Also are ported heads worth it on this cam? Thanks

From: I reached back like a pimp and smacked that LS1....
From what I remember we installed that cam in another car that had headers and it was still undetectable.

And I do think ported heads would be worth doing, they would gain you power even with a stock cam.

I do not think the cam could be ground to achieve the same lift with 1.5's as it currently does with 1.6's.

Yes, even opening a cutout on the exhaust made it louder but no hint of a cam being there at all. It's pretty impressive because some folks still don't believe it has a cam in it. Makes it harder to sell the car advertising a "Cammed" LT1 when it sounds stock.

What springs do you recommend?
