speed density????
I was messing with my car today, and i unplugged my MAF sensor and started it up. I have heard of people doing this and they say you feel a SOP difference. Well, i really didnt notice anything different, but now my SES light is on, and i know its just from unhooking the MAF. Is there any way of getting the SES light to go off without getting it cleared, cuz i technically "fixed" the problem that made the SES light go on??? Thanks
If you unplugged the MAF sensor, the SES light should have gone on. When you plugged the sensor back in, the SES light should have gone out, but the MAF should have stayed in the PCM as a "stored" code. If the SES light didn't go out, there's a chance you messed up the plug when you plugged the sensor back in. Check that first.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you can clear the PCM of all codes by pulling the "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds.

Well there is a myth that the speed density cars are so much faster....
Wether or not its true? I have no idea, I have a 93, and a 95, and the 95 runs just as well as the 93 did when it was stock, it pulls just as hard, etc...
There is a reason GM went to Mass Air. I think that it would be good to have a sensor that actually measures what is coming in and making adjustments based on this, just my $.02.
To be honest I can't see the Maf being that big of a restriction, unless you are talking a big cube engine, the biggest restriction for these cars from the factory are the crappy exhaust systems they come with...
