Spark from ground????

I have the setup in my sig. The electric water pump relay is grounded on the front frame that passes under the radiator shroud. In the course of chasing down a miss I was cleaning all the grounds I could find. When I unscrewed this ground screw and pulled the wires off there was a spark. So just to make sure I replaced a couple of times and took it off and it did it every time. Upon further investigation I realized I had left the switch key on. When I turned it off there was no more spark. Question is even with the key in the on position should there be a spark at all at this location??? Or is this indicitave of a further problem???

Thanks for any help

If your relay is wired so that it operates with the key ON, then you would get a spark in the conditions you described. There is no problem.
