Re: opti spark

How did you scan it for codes? The 16-pin ALDL connector with the OBD-1 PCM can cause problems scanning it.

Did you check the harness connector for the Opti, damaged pins, damaged insulation, etc?

I used the actron 9185 brand new scanner with obd 1 adapt cable . Again the car started with Opti spark install
never unplugged the harness after it started

Re: opti spark

Just thought there might have been a chance you bumped it reinstalling the water pump.

Did you check for spark at both the plugs, and at the coil wire?

Re: opti spark

Faulty optical cam position sensor in the Opti would set codes DTC 16 and or DTC 36. 16 shuts down the fuel system and does not turn on the SES light.

If the rotor fell off (did you loc-tite the rotor screws?) you would have spark at the coil, but not at the plugs.

Re: opti spark

Go through and re-check all your work. You bumped something or unplugged something during the water pump install.
