I want to say your fuel pump is overheating causing it to shut down. Especially if the fuel in the tank is at a low level. So yeah... just like you said it looks like your fuel pump is done.
Good luck w/ the install. You going to go from the top or drop the tank?
I went from the top and am glad. Just make sure if you do that you use a quality piece of material to cover the hole and use sealant.

I was thinking that at first... then I suspected the ICM. It was only 75$ so I grabbed one and it worked for a little while. Probably ran decent because I let the car sit for a week without driving it. I'm going to drop the tank.

Opti is EASY as pie man!!! I got the racetronix pump and wiring kit. Cost me 250$ so it's not terribly cheap but better than needing a motor. LOL

You think it could affected by heat or long periods of driving?

I dunno... a relay either works or it doesn't. A bad relay wouldn't explain your lacking fuel pressure at WOT.

True... I only hope that the fuel pressure tool I got at autozone is accurate. For 40$ it better be. Fuel pressure dropping to 30 psi under load in neutral doesn't seem normal. If the pump was dying wouldn't I have low fuel pressure at pump prime for startup?

Silly me... I forgot to mention. Car has the dreaded intake manifold leak. There is suction behind the oil fill cap when I try to take it off.... maybe this is an issue?

Don't know about the suction thing. You saying you can feel vacuum when you take the oil fill cap off? If that's the case you may have a bad intake manifold gasket or the intake is so loose that the intake/heads surface is no longer sealed.
Your pressure should not drop ever when you stab the gas. If you want to make sure it's not the fuel pressure regulator, take the vacuum hose off of it, put the guage where you can see it when you drive and do a few blips of the throttle to see if the guage responds the same way.

Do I need to be driving the car for this to work? I routed the hose under the hood between it and the wiper cowl. Didnt seem safe. Cant I do this in neutral while sitting still?

If it's JUST suction, I'd say the gasket is leaking. If it's sucking and blowing, then you are getting blow-by from the rings not sealing all the way. The FP relay is located right in front of the tank (where it ramps up for the tank), on the driver's side.

Where would I see it blowing? From where the intake gasket?
