Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
Re: Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
Thats my favorite thing about the ES mounts, no more LT's into the floorboard on acceleration.
I didnt notice much, if any more, vibration from the motormounts. I have Poly motor, tranny, and tq arm mounts in my car.
I think vibration is the only downside.

Re: Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
No downs for me. My old mounts were sagging and the headers were hitting the body. They don't with the new mounts and there is no added vibration fron the new mounts. They were a bit of a pain to install, but that would be the case with any motors mounts.
Re: Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
I got the prothane engine mounts from summit. I only installed the driver side. That way it doesn't vibrate to bad. It stopped my Pacesetter Y pipe from hitting the floorboard on the driver side under WOT. Its kind of a pain in the butt to get the rivets out of the stock mount to put in the urethane mount. You have to reuse the stock motor mount casing.
Re: Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
I thought poly's would cure my y-pipe bang as well. It did for only 30 miles then it went back to banging. So I switched to solids. Bang is gone period. Not to worried about the knock sensor since I don't have one. 93.
Had a friend w/ solids and could notice a difference in the way the car felt. You get use to it and it was the only thing that wasn't solid on my car til now. I'm happy I switched.

Re: Solid Motor mounts or ES Motor mounts?
By design, the stock mounts are flexible in order to absorb vibration. The downside is that with violent launches some of the torque is briefly absorbed while the mounts deform allowing the motor to twist about the crank axis. With solid mounts, there is minimal twisting and the power is instantaneously transmitted to the frame. However, besides vibrating more, solid mounts can lead to tranny or mounting point breakage. Especially if a solid tranny mount is used, twisting of the frame will place a lot of stress on the motor and tranny, potrnetially causing breakage of the tranny case or mountin points. With solids, the car will feel a little more responsive to the throttle.
Besides the vibration being unpleasant (to some) in and of itself, it will cause rattles and stuff to come loose over time. Poly mounts are an attempt at a middle ground. But my own preference is for stock mounts except on a race car. I find the addtional vibration annoying and there to be no practical benefit. If someone tells you the stock mounts aren't "strong enough" I'd point out that I have no problems with them in my near 4,000lb, >800rwhp 'vert with low 1.5sec 60' times.
Save your money and enjoy the ride with stock mounts.
