Talking So I decide to do !TB today and I found...

I found out that I have an airfoil already - this is cool - I have a 1LE elbow too but I figured it wasn't anything to list in my sig - but now I'm wondering if maybe I have a bigger TB as well? How do I find out if I have a bigger TB?

odds are its a stock size TB, most (prolly 99% of them) aftermarket units have an airfoil machined into it!

Just look at the butterfies. The stock butterfly plates are silver in color and have a faint checkered pattern on them. They're also fairly thick.

This is about the best pic I have of a stock TB, but at that angle you can't see the butterfly plates very well.

So are my standard 52mm ones

You can tell by looking at the bores. There is a bit of rough edge on the mouth of the bores on a stock one. On a 52mm there will be almost none and the bores will obviously be machined.

My bad... I've got the one you made for sideways_into_third... that one had thinner plates, damn good quality too by the way

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. It's probably stock - it just surprised me to find the airfoil because I figured the car was stock when I bought it. Maybe something really kickass will happen when I pull the valve covers one day and find some RR's .

Ah, ok, you got one of the Special ones

Thats an awesome pic too. Feel free to email me any more you have at halbertperformance@team.camaroz28.com I'm in Northern KY also, not sure how far away you are

As far as a BBK not having an airfoil.... I've never seen that and think you probably don't have a BBK. I'd love to see a pic of that.

Nah, it's a BBK TB. I did buy it from a local guy in my Camaro club. He may have taken the air foil out if that is possible. I dunno.

But BBKs are cast with the airfoil in it?

Do you have a pic you could post?

It looks just like this one from BBK's website.
BBK 52mm TB
I guess that is the air foil already made into it, but I dunno, the air foil just looks different to me. I assume that is supposed to be the air foil. I can't tell. Guess I have one after all.
