if your useing oil and you see smoke i would think rings are going and your getting a blowbye situation, if you see smoke as you first start the car, valve seals are shot, but you said as your driving so i would think its the rings

Pull your plugs. If you find a couple that are glossy/sludgy black, then you just found which cylinder is burning oil. Do notice if the smoke has a hint of blue and/or smell sweet?

Hey man, i'm in the same situation as you, except i've checked all of the plugs and none of them are any different than the other and nothing looks out of the ordinary. Mine is losing oil out my rear main bad, but im not sure if its burning some. I can rev it up at a standstill and it doesnt smoke, just when im driving everyone tells me it does.... its a mystery to me.

Cool

When I had my intake oil leak fixed, all signs of smoking disappeared.I would see smoke on startup, and when I blasted it.Even my #8 plug showed thick oil and gunk on it before the intake fix.Now all plugs look good after 5000 mi or so.No more smoking, and I hardly use any oil between oil changes, where as before I used about a quart a month.Hope this helps.

my car does the same thing it has 65k on it. when I first start it I can see blue smoke coming out and then its gone, also my exhaust smell little bit like oil. I have talked to few people and they told me that its valve seals, am planning to change them soon, I hope that will solve the problem. Just wandering how can I tell if my intake has oil leak?
