SERIOUS PROBLEM new motor LITERALLY smokin
Ok heres how it started, I have had the car running for about a week, it has about 50 miles on the new motor, but I did go out everyday and run the car for about 15 mins. Everything was fine except for that clutch fork I posted about, but anyway, yesterday, I put an ignition in(which I dont think had anything to do with the problem but could be wrong) then I let the car run for a bit before I took it for a ride, while on the drive the car started smokin and would die at idle, I got it home to find out it was smokin because there was alot of crankcase pressure and it was blowin oil up through the breather tube that goes to the TB, there was oil in the TB, my plugs were fouled out, weird part is that if I took the valve covers off, the car would not die, once back on it would die at idle, the pressure and smoke comin from the valve covers fills the engine compartment alomost instantly and the smoke billows out from theunder the hood, please help, have no idea what it is, the car is running rich as well. PLEASE GIVE ME ANY IDEAS.
If you leave the valve cover on but disconnect the tube that goes to the TB and white smoke is coming out you have a ring somewhere that's not sealing. Better get out the compression gauge. They are maybe $20 at the auto store if you don't have one yet.
How many miles was it running for? In other words how many miles do you have on the new motor?
Did you do any romping on it at all?
Did you have any excessive periods of cranking and no start while first getting it running?
I've never done it but I've heard of "washing out" the rings if you get too much fuel into the cylinder and no start before it's first fire up.
OHHH, I wonder..
Did you line up the piston rings so that the gaps are roughly opposite each other? You might have gotten "lucky" and not checked for that when installing. The rings were just barely far enough apart at first but turned just a little after some settling to cause both gaps to be aligned and thus excessive blow-by.

approx 50 miles on motor plus everyday i started the motor and ran it for 15 mins or so
no real romping just driving and never took it over 3500 - 4000 rpms
i am running rich, lookin into some new o2s for the front

I talked to my friend that owns the performance shop and he said it is either the rings or piston(s). I agree that you need to use a compression gauge and go from there I'll bet you'll find the problem.
