Smoke after any freeway drive...

I get smoke mostly from the driver's side when I stop from a highway trip. No matter the distance... I don't know if it's the intake or not but I felt back there and it didn't seem like there was much oil. It wasn't dry but it looked like usual accumulated road grime. Plus my car has been leaking a decent amount of oil lately. What else could it be other the intake manifold... Something is leaking oil and it's getting all over the underside of my car and everywhere I park I leave a small little pool of a few drops.

Ok, you know there's an oil leak. Where exactly is the oil coming into contact with the exhaust pipe? I'm assuming it's hitting the exhaust cause that's the only thing I can think of that is hot enough to make the oil smoke.

Clean it real well. Get some die and put it up on a lift and be done with this problem.

Could this be intake manifold leak? I did not scratch up the mating surfaces before I did it this time... I will clean it and drive it and feel back there to see if oil appeared but as for now I can'treally tell.

Anybody have input???

How about the oil lines that go to and from the blower? I remember those giving some trouble before with oil leaks.

The valve covers? Are they sealing all the way? Check around there too.

Check the timing chain cover too.

Hmmmmm I had the same problem with my 1980 Turbo T/A. Turned out the rear main would leak under high boost. This usually happened on the freeway.

Whatsup Mike...

I'm pretty sure it's not a rear main seal problem. It's never given me problems. It has to the the intake or the oil lines to the blower. I'm really starting to think it's the intake though. I just have one of those "feelings". I replaced the valve cover gasket with a felpro one so it's not leaking any more for sure. I will investigate and post back.

It'd be obvious if the rear intake was leaking though. Then again.. you'd have to stick your hand back there on a hot engine to see if there's wet oil.

Rear main seal would be obvious if you pulled the clutch inspection plate.
