Smells rich but runs lean?
Smells rich but runs lean?
My car seems to be running real rich. It smells rich and bogs down, so today i changed the plugs, and they all showed signs of running lean. They were very white. The car isnt throwing any codes. I installed my cc306 and had a mail order tune done from MadZ28. Anyone ahve any ideas as to what it may be doing?
show us pics of the plugs ryan....id like to make sure your readingh them right...the white part i nthe center has nothig to do with it...its the ring that goes around it all the same part that is the threads its how much carbon is on that and the color of it tells you what kinda a/f you have
When I went to Ed Wrights to be chassis tuned, he told me about cars smelling rich but are actually lean....like mine was before he started tuning. A lean car has a different smell than a rich car.ALthough they are similar smells, a lean car will burn your eyes where a rich car will not.
DO not run it anymore. Find the problem. At idle the o2's should be around 800 ish

What did you measure the O2 voltages with? Problem is, they are changing so rapidly (~9 times per second) you can't see all the readings, unless you are data logging with a scan rate of 10 frames per second. Then you should see the readings covering the full range of 0xx-9xx mVolts, with an average value of 450mV.
Do you have a cat?
No cat(s) = fuel smell
Did the problem start suddenly, or build up over a period of time? Did you make any changes just before it started smelling bad and bogging? When does it smell... at idle, normal driving, black cloud at WOT???? When does it bog?
