Belt walking .....Very Bad

Motor brand new re-built.
Im thinking it's the harmonic balancer.
As I look from straight under the HB, I notice that it's positioned about 1/2" further towards the front of the car compared to everything else(ac, tensioner, alt, PS, and all). Something is def wrong.
Im using this dampner. Ayone heard or used it. Or recommend another for me?

Two things come to mind:
Are you absolutely sure the crank hub is seated on the crank all the way?

Both of these dampers include a high strength steel hub, spacers for various engine applications...
Are you sure you are using the correct spacer?

Edit
It does not fit 1996-'97 LT4 Corvette and Camaro
What year is your car? If it's the above listed years then it seems the reason why it won't fit is due to the crank reluctor gear. OBDII cars have a shorter crank hub to accomodate the reluctor and this doesn't seem to take that into account.

well not exactly but pretty sure.

It walked after the first re-build.
Then 30 miles after the first re-build I had it re-built again.
By Port Pros in Austin.
now it walks even more.

You would think they would have lined it all up but I don know.

just saw the other part of your post. Your right I do remember seeing the other adapter.
You would think I would have been smart enough to use the correct one. But the way things have been going, I probably did not.

I'll check
thanks

By not including the year of your car/engine in your signature, it makes is harder for people to help you. As you are finding out, the damper hub length depends on the year.

looking at the illustration in the link I dont see how I installed it wrong. I did not use the adapter or spacer. That would cause it to be as far back up against the motor as possible.
I still need it to slide back another inch.
There is not a shorter hub is there?
in case you are still wondering, it's a 96 trans am

I changed my timing set and when I put the balancer back on it sets about a quarter of an inch out more than it did with the factory set. I'm sure it is because I can still seee where the crank seal used to ride. I'm absolutely sure I have it seated well. I believe my crank gear must have been a little thicker than stock. Got it at autozoone. But I haven't had any trouble with it walking or wearing the belt. You may be able to have the balancer machined out a little so I will set farther back.

Unless you are willing to do away with the crank position sensor and reluctor gear and go with a '95-earlier crank hub that dampner will not work for you.

Exactly..... thanks for pointing that out.

The easiest way to get answers is to provide all the required info up front. I was trying to help you.

the thickness of the crank gear shouldn't be that far off from stock. are you sure you pushed it all the way back? Did you use the corrrect key for the crank gear that is notched for the hub? Also make sure you are using the correct hub. You need a hub of a little less than 3.5", the hubs for 92-95 lt1s are a little more than 3.5" and the B-Body's are around 4".

Well the first Build I installed it and it was a tad bit off but Port Pros installed it this time and it's even more off.
I'll do some checking when I pick up the car on monday.
Pretty sure he just used the the hub with no spacers or adapters.
