For those about to replace your optispark...
you do NOT need to pull the damper... all you have to pull is the crank pully...
A friend of mine pulled the damper to change his Opti and stripped the threads on the bolt and inside the crank shaft...
i found out that you can take off the pully and turn the crank to a point of which you can wiggle the Optispark out...
SAVE YOUR CRANK!!!

i'm just trying to save someone hassle and money...
sorry, guess i'll leave it to the pro's... lol
no, really i have done a search and seen lots of people pulling the balancer off...
that could be a very expencive fix for something that didn't need to be done...

There is no reason for damaging the threads if it is done the right way.I guess it is the same with everything. If there is a way to screw something up, someone's gonna do it.
Sometimes it's easier to remove the hub especially if you have a March U/D pulley that has fused onto the damper. The last thing you want to do is take a hammer and start smacking on the damper...
Antisieze grease does wonders to keep parts from fusing together. Front wheel hubs to steering knuckles is another "fusion point".
If we put a sticky up for every problem similar to this, there would be pages of "stickies" and no one would read them...... just like many people don't bother to search. We have only 4 stickies on the "Wheel and Tire" forum, and I can't find any evidence to suggest that anyone even looks at the Wheel and Tire FAQ, before they ask "what size wheels will fit on my car?"
