Should I replace opti?

Ok...the saga continues. I got my water pump off and then the opti. I'm replacing my waterpump and was going to change the cap/rotor on the opti while I was at it. The opti was very oily/greasy on the outside. When I took the opti apart to replace the cap/rotor, I noticed there was a substantial amount of what I'm thinking is engine oil, inside the opti, under the rotor in the part with the metal 360 degree disc, probably a teaspoon or so. Not knowing much at all about these things...is this normal? If not, should I clean it out the best I can and replace the cap/rotor, or just replace the whole opti? Open to suggestions, I'm right in the middle of buttoning this thing back together. Thanks!

How could oil have gotten in there? I'm leaning toward just replacing it, but I'd hate to have this happen again, so I'm curious how oil could have made it's way inside. I do have a very small oil leak in the front of the engine somewhere, which I'm trying to track down now that everything's off the front. Also, the two seals on the shaft of the opti, one was cracked and fell right off.

I'm thinking of giving this one a try...shop has a good rating and this is cheaper than I paid for the cap and rotor, lol..anybody deal with this guy before?:

I would replace the seal behind the optispark and also replace the Water pump drive shaft seal.
I would try the Ebay optispark.
I'm going to try this one out for $39.99.

Well I don't know where you live so that does not help out much but Felpro makes a gasket set #TCS45956.
It comes with the water pump gaskets the optispark seal water pump seal timing cover gasket crank shaft seal and two o rings that are either for the optispark or the water pump cupping.
It's cheaper that getting them at the dealer.
Here is some info on replacing the water pump seal it's a little tricky but it's easy.

Thanks man, really appreciate it, good info. I've only had this car for a few months but I love it to death...nice to be getting my hands dirty again too, been a long time since I tore into something like this. I got the gasket set you mention above and I'll be using them all, except for the timing cover gasket because it appears that the oil pan has to drop to replace it. Thanks again...
