Shoebox, Injuneer, EVAP question..

Thank you for those who have helped me with my evap problems, please chime in as well.

This question is in regards to the evap line that connects under the hood where the fuel lines are, and goes under the tb and connects to the solenoid. (Hard line ,purge solenoid) Does this line have some sort of "restriction" or regulator built into the line? I tried blowing through it, and very minimal air can be blown through. I also tried with an air compressor, and got the same result. I tried pushing a piece of speaker wire through it, and it hits something inside the tube. Is this normal?

There should not be any restriction in that line. Sounds like it may be plugged with carbon from the canister. Shoebox's diagram shows there is nothing in the system:

Fred, the line I am talking about is line #1 from the diagram. It looks like its two pieces in that diagram, but in reality its only one. But yea that line seems as if there is something in there blocking it, perhaps carbon.. Should I replace it, or how can I clean it out. I already tried with a air compressor, and no luck..

Also, do you know if the line coming off the charcoal canister labeled "Fresh Air" actually connects to something, or does it not, and sucks in fresh air? Thank you Fred

Since you're probably gona have to trash it anyway try sticking your wire in it again to find where the clog is. Then lay it on the ground and tap it on the outside where the clog is with a hard plastic hammer. The clog might break up and come out then.

The middle port does not connect to anything if I remember correctly. But maybe if you ask some others if they remember looking at the center port of the charcoal canister. You may get a bettery memory to tell you than mine.

Which way are you trying to blow air through? From the connection at 1 & 2 or the connection at 1 & 7? You should be able to blow air through and suck it back(be careful, I got a mouthfull of gas soaked charcoal) if you disconnect the line at 1 & 7. That should be clear all the way back to the cannister. If you're disconnecting at 1 & 2 and trying to blow through to the intake manifold then no, it won't go through because there are check valves(either 6 or 7) that prevent air from going through unless the computer opens it to vent.

well I cleaned out all of the lines for the evap system, and there was a bunch of charcoal stuck in the lines!!! I blew them all out, and got everything out. But I have a question for you all. Can anyone please explain to me what the "vapor canister regulator" do this is what it looks like. I am trying to see if it is bad, but I dont know how to test it. Here is a picture of it..

The hose on the right goes into the canister, the hose on the left connects to the tank. Thanks Guys!

I think it's some form of pressurized check valve or bypass valve. When the pressure from the tank gets high enough I think it lets the pressure and vapors into the charcoal cannister even if the computer is not doing a purge. Did you get a new charcoal cannister after finding all the bits in your lines? I got a mouthfull when I checked my car. Part of my problem was also the rubber hose connections back around the rear axle area were all rock hard and leaking too much air into the system during a purge. The system should only allow a certain amount of air/vapors to be purged and too much can lean the engine out. You might want to replace all those short rubber hoses that connect the metal hard lines to the plastic lines.

More info on it here (lower right corner of picture):

I replaced the canister, purge solenoid, and cleaned all the lines out. I wanted to check this pressurized check valve, because I dont know if it is bad or not. I am not getting any SES lights, but more chasing a fuel smell. Anyone know how to check this valve?
