Shoebox: I need your input please!

I have a 95 z and I put a 97 lt1 in the car. The car has no egr, no air pump, . I installed a MSD blaster coil. The problem that I'm having is this, I try to start the car and it sounds like it wants to turn over but it doesn't. My buddy and I noticed that the 2 grounds going to the coil are hot ( getting power when the key is turned to the on position) so we measured the res. and found that they both are getting 12.44v to both of them when there are supposed to be cold and getting no voltage cause there grounds.

My ? is this - would the ignition coil module from the 97 make a difference causing the motor not to fire cause the module is set for a OBII computer car rather than OB1 cause my car is a 95.

I checked your website for an engine schematic, but I could find anything for it, because we think that there is a short somewhere in the harness causing the coil wires to get power.

Ne help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Sounds to me like you need to send him a private message, as they dont like it when you page them with a thread. You will get quicker results that way.

Not shoebox, but I might be able to help. The ICM is different on the 96-97 LT1s. It is meant to work with the single connector coil. Someone will chime in and explain more.

If the grounds are energized, you should be tracing them out to see why.

If you want my opinion, you should send me an email with a link to the thread you started. It is better not to use the forum for paging people. It also has the negative effect of reducing replies to your problem.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the help and advice. I very rarely post on the forum- I mainly use it for information. I find your information on your website very helpful, so I figured
I put a post up to help me solve a problem that I have with my car. My bad if I offended anybody. Now I know how to get a problem solved.

Thanks-Joe

Do not "page" individuals on the tech forums. That's what e-mail and PM's are for.
