Shift Point and Rev Limiter for CC503

CC503 cam will be going into my car soon and I was wondering what I should change my shift light to. Also I am going to get a tune from MadZ28 and was wondering what I should have the limiter set at??

Thanks.

You don't need to spin it above 6000 rpm, I can tell you that (I have the same Cam). Your power peak is going to be at about 5800rpm. That's with ported heads. On stock heads I'd aim 200 rpm lower to start with.

Yea its going to be with stock heads for now. So set the shift light for 6000 and the limiter for 6200-6300. I will have a forged bottom end so it should be ok till there.

I used the 503 with 1.6 rockers and 1 3/4 Lt's on stock heads. Peak power was at 5800 just like the above poster's was but it remained flat all the way to 6800. I first started with a 6200 shift, and then kept seeing better et's the higher I shifted. I eventually landed on 6600 being the shift point as 11.73 was all she would go. It's all going to depend on your valvesprings as to how high you can spin it. Use good ones like the beehives or, use a dual spring that is set up about 150 on the seat.

I do have the beehive springs so maybe I should set the limiter to 6500 or so and shift at 6200-6300???
