Seriously! Why does my dyno run suck?
Seriously! Why does my dyno run suck?
Posted a few months ago about a dyno I did. After 3 pulls all I could muster up was 316hp and 336tq. 1995 firebird formula M6 with newly rebuilt 350, 3.73 gears, pulleys, stage I heads, 306 custom cam (.520/.540 236/242) headers exhaust, cutout, stage II clutch & computer tuning. I can beat ls1's and some modded ls1's all day long and this is the dyno I get. I beat a friend of mine in a 2002 formula by a car and he runs 8.2's in the 1/8 mile. Can dynos (dynojets) be that inaccurate or do you think somethings not right?
Re: Seriously! Why does my dyno run suck?
A dyno is nothing more than a tuning tool. I've personally watched a car dyno something like 309 RWHP that I KNOW has gone 12.0@112. If your car performs, who cares about "bragging rights" dyno numbers.

That was me. I actually only dynoed 300 RWHP after the car went 12.0. We picked up a few HP in that dyno session. I originally thought something was hurt in the motor, but I've since ran consistant 12.3's in crappy weather, on worn out tires, and no track prep...Which is actually a little quicker than the car ran before the dyno, under the same conditions. The key is not to get discouraged with dyno numbers. The car that get's there first is the winner...Not the car who's dyno numbers are higher

I've outran alot of cars putting down substanially higher numbers.

I run 8.6 on street tires spinning most of the way down. I put on some nittos and ran 8.3 still spinning a bit. Pretty sure I could lower the times even more with et streets or something like that. 60' is 2.02. I just wish I could put down some bigger numbers even though I show to be much faster at the track and on the street

we're getting ready to take our 10 second '70 Camaro there (Xotic) to run a couple pulls on it.
Anyone wanna guess what a 3100# (with me in it). '70 Camaro that runs 10.90 @ 124.50 MPH is gonna dyno?
