sensor?

hey guys i had bought a new engine off another board member and it dosent have a sensor at the bottom of the timing chain. (right at the bottom of it) i am running a delteq system also. so at the risk of lookin like a moron i got to ask some questions here haha. so my question is this, what is this sensor for? and can i tune the sensor out with a custom tune or do i need it in there? thanks guys

It's the crank position sensor, and yes it can be tuned out.

If it doesn't have the CKP sensor, its a 93-95 engine. In that case, you would also have to swap your 96 knock sensor into the older engine.

Yes, the knock sensor is located on the right lower side of the block.

The knock sensor has to be the specific part # for the 96/97 engines, if you are running a 96 OBD-II PCM. They changed from a 4.5Kohm unit to a 100Kohm unit in 96, and they are not interchangeable - will set a code for a faulty knock sensor and result in almost constant knock retard, if the sensor does not match the PCM.
