going to be a 200-300 shot. more than likely around 250. We'll see what the numbers are on a 200 shot then probably move up to a 250.

I agree. Next will be a forged crank. If i can't find a callies for a good price i'll just go with a scat. I'm wanting to put really good heads on it and with a nitrous cam make around 420ish to the tires. Then hit it with a 200-300 shot. Not sure if a nitrous specific cam can make that kind of power on motor but i plan to have a little woodpecker smoking a cigar in it if you know what i mean. I'm not too worried about n/a numbers though, this is going to be a nitrous motor, straight up.

Also a 383 is a 3.75 stroke crank with 6.0 or 5.7 rods right?

383 = 3.75" stroke x 4.030" bore.
Are you going to use a progressive controller with the N2O? When I was spraying, I used the Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind. It really helped smooth out the delivery. I'm sure there are much better digital controllers out by now.
Sounds like a fun build.

so rod length doesn't matter right? the 6" rod will put the pin higher in the ring pack. Shouldn't have to worry about anything with forged pistons. Probably will use some kind of controller. more or less will have in microswitched for wot, and window switched for certain rpm on and off. may just take the whole hit though.

There is also a 5.85" rod length available. That might be a better choice for a nitrous or forced induction setup, for example, to keep the pin a little lower in the ring pack. Still requires ring rails though. I'm running the 5.85" Oliver Billet rods with a 300-shot.

I'm going to have to look into that.

Alright, i've found a good deal on both of these cranks and was wondering what would be a better choice for the 383 nitrous build.

I'm thinking the Callies would be better for the amount of power 'm looking for. Open to all opinions

You can't go wrong with either of those. I went with an (seemingly) inexpensive forged Scat that cost around $4xx but by the time my machinist balanced it with Mallory Metal it was closer to $700 in total.

I agree, both of those are awesome cranks. And Scat cranks are known for being underbalanced so the shop usually has to add heavy metal which adds in price fast.

That's a matter of perspective, they're great if you use really light components which I'm a big proponent of.

Yea, it wouldn't be too bad i actually planned on usinf some srp forged lightweight pistons. Added to the fact the rods are 6" it should turn up pretty damn good
