scanning for codes
i have the OBD1 PCM w/ OBD1 connector...i have the cable from akm and a labtop w/ the right port...i am in the process of purchasing an email tune from Ion madz28...im not to computer knowledable.
For OBD-I software, the best bet is TTS DataMaster. Free download, and 20 uses or so before they ask you to buy it.

The other choice would be "FreeScan".... the price is, well.... "free".

i actually wont have my cable untill monday and i'll prolly have my tune from Ion im hoping by then.. all i do is download that free download onto my labtop..plug it in the car and that download program will flash my trouble codes if i have any...then i should run the tune program email Ion sends me?
so i downloaded freescan and hooked every thing up and ran freescan w/ the key position to on but engine off and i dont know how to start it up or check for things...can someone give me a decently detailed summary of how to chec k for trouble codes or how all this works
