Sputtering/breakup at high RPM...HELP

Well, I just got a tune from Ion, and in it he raised the rev limiter to 6500. Now when I go over 6000, i hear a sputtering sound, basically like a really loud static coming from my tailpipes, and the car loses most of its power and barely tries to go forward. Is this spark blowout or something else? Could the opti cause this?

Any help would be appreciated...

Shawn

Shawn,
do you happen to have a stock MAF laying around that you could try?

If you're still running the stock valve train (only saw a cam change in your signature) you'rel probably floating the valves about 6K rpm. Time for better springs.

No, the springs were changed with the cam (summit springs- PN CCA-983-KIT). No, I dont happen to have a stock MAF lying around, but i know a few guys who have one I'll have to ask to borrow it one day for some testing. I've heard some bad things about Granitelli MAF's. Would anything show up on the Scanmaster if it was a bad MAF, because I ordered a scanmaster which should be hear next week, but I wont have the money for a new MAF for a while (I have to borrow money to get my AC fixed as well as for school coming up soon, and I'm going on a week long vacation to Disney world from the 19-25th, and then to Fun Ford Weekend on the 26th and 27th, so I'm gonna be BROKE for a while.)

Might be time for an ignition upgrade. A MSD 6AL will give your hotter sparks in the upper RPM range and multiple sparks below 3K rpm. Also provides a better rev limiter (cuts spark, not fuel).
