does anyone know where i can get a scan tool for a 93 ive heard the scanmaster doesnt work

 

im using my laptop and datamaster, walmart sells these gm scanners that flash different colours for different codes.

 

can u give me some m ore info about ur datamaster im not very familiar with what this is.

 

You can just use the SES to flash out trouble codes on a 1993, but you will need a scan tool to look at what the ecm is doing. A scan tool like Autoxray makes will work, if you don't go the cable and laptop route.

 

its a program that reads the ecm, displays it on the laptop. youll need the cable, a laptop and the program.

You can't change anything within the ECM, just look at the various sensors, trouble codes and operating parameters. For a few items you can look at, that might help you evaluate the condition of your engine, try my ScanMaster writeup. Unfortunately, the ScanMaster will not work on the 93's.

In addition to DataMaster, there is supposed to be a 93 version of Andy Whittaker's "FreeScan", but I've seen some comment to indicate people can't get it working. Also a program called "Diacom", but it is a real DOS-based dinosaur next to DataMaster.
