Runs Rich, Replaced 02's

My 96 T/A is running severely rich, it stumbles and wants to die and jumps when at crusing speeds. It only does this when the car is warmed up. I replaced all 02's, the AIT sensor, and had a diagnostic ran, it is throwing a hard code "P0115". It is running so rich that it is blowing black smoke out the tailpipes and turning my bumper black. It starts and runs great when cold, but to get it started when it is war, I have to clear flood it. I am totally stumped, anybody have any ideas? I am going to check the fuel pressure and see where that is at.

P0115??????? You got me there.

Have you checked to see if the vac line to the FPR is wet or if any of the injectors are leaking???

Have you checked for dead cylinders?

Have you smelled the oil on the dipstick for a fuel smell??????

yep... check the code. I can't find that one on any of the LT1/OBD-II specific code lists.

It is close to the code for coolant temp sensor, and a failed coolant temp sensor could cause the problems you are having. If the PCM thinks the engine is cold, it richens the mixture and won't let the system go into closed loop.

But check the code.... doesn't sound like you wrote down the right number.

Hey, yea I wrote it down wrong. Sorry about that. It's P1115. It is weird because it is throwing a high voltage and a low voltage on the ECT. But I checked for continuity between the conector on the sensor, and on the computer, and it was fine. I just recently replaced the ECT sensor, and that was when it all started messing up. I replaced it because the car was staying in open loop and the fans were not coming on. Then once the car started going into closed loop, it all went to hell. Now the car has decided to not go into closed loop anymore and stay in open loop, so I have to manually turn my fans on to keep from overheating. Atleast the car is driveable now and doesn't stumble and try to die since it is staying in open loop and not going into closed loop. I am about ready to kill this car .

I am thinking about maybe trying my ECT again? I used a Borg Warner, maybe it was the wrong sensor? What price do these usually run? I payed 25 bucks for the BW.

Could it possibly be my thermostat? The guy I bought it from just had a new thermostat put in it, could it have been a low temp one and if he had not had the computer tuned for it could it be doing this? I don't know what LT1's run at from the factory, but mine never goes farther than halfway between the line and the 210 markings.

All of a sudden the car started running great!? I don't know if my ECT is working or not because I never check to see if my fans are running or not, because I have a fan switch and have it on constantly. I will get back to everyone about what happens with replacing the ECT again if needed.
