well i finally got time to change my opti, my car only will crank with a shot of ether tho after the shot it will fire up and run fine but without the starting fluid it wont hit a lick. when i bought this car it was not running but with the change of a arcyspark i got it to run fine but still needs a little help any ideas

Yeah, 42psi is good, but what about when you get it started, what's the pressure then? Fuel pressure doesn't just "hold" at a certain PSI, it's going to fluctuate a bit.

 

Does it require the shot of ether to start BOTH when the engine is cold and when the engine is hot? Or is the problem only when the engine is cold?

 

hot and cold wont start any time without starting fluid

 

Were you thinking something like the ECT Fred? Dang, he definitely has a combustion problem it seems. The thing that gets me is why it runs fine once it's running okay.

Once running, how does the car do at WOT, driving, etc? Any loss of power? I am still thinking fuel problem, but there's not a lot of info, so I'm just shooting into the dark now.
