Running Extremely Rich

My car is running unbelieveably rich, when I turn on the heat/ac I smell gas, I only get 130 miles to a tank. Mods include air foil, 160 thermo, midlength 1 3/4 headers and LM cat-back...what could be causing it to run like this? I just changed plugs, wires and fuel filter. Any help would be greatly appriciated

Check for leaks , you shouldn't smell gas. If the problem just started, go back and double check everything you put on. Make sure the plugs are the right ones, and the fuel filter aswell.

Excessively rich condition can result from:

-exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors
-misfires
-faulty sensors or wiring
-excessive fuel pressure
-saturated EEC canister
-leaking EGR valve
-ruptured FPR diaphragm

Get a scanner on it, pull the long term fuel corrections (BLM's) for both banks in a representative number of Cells, low load to high load, and you can sometimes gain insight to the cause.

I'd be very concerned about a fuel smell in the heater though. That would indicate a fuel leak under the hood. Running rich would cause the exhaust to smell, but not the heater.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with an OBD1 scanner...anyway to eliminate some of the things that could cause it to run rich? It drives fine, no SES light or any other light, since I've had it the mileage has been bad but the gas smell just started.

Injuneer,

Ok, say the LTerms were at 108. That means the computer is trying to lean out the car correct?? Of those conditions you listed, could any cause such an indication???

Have you removed the rubber billow from the throttle bottle? I knon on mine, I did and I was sure I placed it back on correctly but of course a week later I had same sympotons you had. I re-looked and it was folded up underneath/ripped.
