Running 37# injectors on a 30# tune

I bought a OBDI PCM from 1994TransAM (WORKS GREAT!!). I read on his home page he had 30# FMS injectors so I assume the PCM is programmed for them. What will it do with me running the Racetronix 37# injectors?? Run rich? It won't hurt for me to run on this tune right? The car runs REALLY strong with the tune that's on it. The gears, and transmission are right so that's not a problem. The other diferance is he was running a GM847 as to where I'm runnning the cc306 but it seems to run without a problem other than at idle where it drops a little faster than mine (gets down to about 500 RPM's, almost dies before catching itself) The cc306 LOVES those 6500 shift points that's for sure! It feel alot faster on the top end.

Re: Running 37# injectors on a 30# tune

You're going to have a problem with the injectors. You're running an injector that is 23% larger than what the PCM is programmed for. The BLM's can only pull out 15% from the standard fuel calculation. In closed loop, you'll be relying on the short-terms to keep it from running rich (in addition to looking at an SES light for a "rich" code on both sides). When you go WOT, and the PCM enters PE mode, it will see that the BLM's were "cutting fuel" and ignore the BLM's in Cell 15, and run a default value of 128. You will definitely be running 23% extra fuel.... P-I-G rich. Might be a good way to spray down the neighborhood for mosquitoes

Re: Running 37# injectors on a 30# tune

LOL!! Thanks injuneer. If it's not running rich?? I did not see any black smoke or smell any fuel......... I'm by far no expert on tuning so I'm not doubting you just wondering. I know I should not "assume" what someone has program the PCM for so I guess I'll probly wait for him to reply to make sure it's set for 30#. I'm tuning it tomorrow so it's not like I'd be driving it much anyways.

*EDIT* It also did not set a SES code, but I only drove it for about 10 minutes (it was warm, I ALWAYS warm my car up before I drive it)
