RR questions

looking at RRs for my motor, they will go in my current motor til the 383 is finished, then go in that. The 383 will have TFS heads and a LPE 219/219 560/560 cam. My question:
Will 3/8 rockers be fine? Trying to keep price to a minimum here
Will comp pro-magnums be my best bet, or what other alternatives do i have?

If you need to buy rockers then there's really NO reason at all not to go with the 7/16 rockers(same cost).........IMO, Your best bet is the NSA 7/16 Pro-Magnums and a set of ARP 7/16 studs for 25 bucks......going 7/16 creates a MUCH more stiff valvetrain, and they NEVER break.....where as 3/8 studs break commonly......I would think that since your going thru the expense of aftermarket heads and a 383....adding guideplates and a set of hardened pushrods (for NSA rockers) should be part of the plan anyway.........Joe

The cross section of a 7/16" stud is ~36% larger than that of a 3/8" and the strength is going to be proportional to the x-section. So, definitely get a set of good 7/16" rockers studs if you are upgrading your valvetrain.

alright guys, thanks. Are the studs i need the ones from thunderracing.com im assuming? I looked on summit and they have a bunch of different sizes, where thunderracing just lists them under LT1.
Some reason i thought the studs were more $$ than that. Thanks for the input guys.

Many of us use the GM LT1 guideplates(about $25 from summit)......but several guys here have had issues with a couple here and there not being hardened enough, and excessive wear was the end result........some have now gone to the trickflow guideplates, and the Isky "adjustables" are good as well, but "I believe" they have to be spot welded after they are adjusted correctly....... I just recently ordered a set of manely guideplates that are supposed to be good(but I can't recomend them since I havent tried them yet)......Here's some more info....http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...t1+guideplates also don't forget to go with a good set of hardened pushrods like the Comp Cams "Hi-Tech" ones........don't skimp on pushrods

Thanks man. Would there be any advantage w/ the comp "hi tech" pushrods over the 94 hardened pushrods assuming the length didnt change?

Sorry for the slow responce.........Yea, the Comp "Hi-Tech"(80thou wall thickness) pushrods are litterally "world's" better(reguardless of length).....They're a MUCH MUCH stronger pushrod made from a better material...and they also have a "real" hardening process, and were designed to give off less harmonic's as well........Joe
