RPM Idle Down Issue

When driving my car to/from work sometimes when depressing the clutch pedal the RPM's will stay at 2K instead of coming down like it should. It does not do this everytime but I want to attemtp to fix it as it shouldnt do this. I can get it to idle down by blipping the throttle, but there has to be something dirty or causing it not to idle down on it's own.

Yes, you need to replace the throttle linkage cable.

Does that cable go all the way to the gas pedal? That doesn't sound cheap. I would think if the cable is bad wouldn't it do it everytime?

Sounds to me like it's going out.
Some things break all at once, others go out slowly.

To check the cable, have someone operated it (with engine off), while you watch it at the throttle body to see if the linkage is closing all the way. I would have my doubts that it is a cable problem. Sounds more like an IAC issue. It and it's passages on the throttle body may need to be cleaned.

That's what I was thinking the IAC, I have heard mention of this before. I will look at it this weekend I suppose.
