Roller rocker ratio selection as it realates to a single pattern cam..HELP

Need some advice...here what i got
stock LT1 shortblock
Max ported stock casting heads with 2.02 and 1.57 valves
Single pattern Solid roller with 244 dur and .611 lift with 1.6 on a 112 lsa

Now i dont know weather i should go all 1.6 or 1.5 or mix with the 1.5 on the intake and the 1.6 on the exhaust???

One thing that ppl are woprrying my about in piston to valve clearance....1.5 would lessen this i guess...

main this is this is a pretty radical cam for a stock shortblock and driveability if important to me... What would putting 1.5s on the intake do?? more or less drivabilty?

any help would greatly be apreciated
thanks

WOAH!!, that is one radical cam you have there, I would stay with 1.5's all the way around myself, especially reading the specs of you cam, the car should have good driveability, maybe..but oh well, small price to pay for horsepower... To answer your question, I have no idea, infact i have never heard of mixing the combination of 1.6s on the exhaust and 1.5's on the intake...That is a new one for me... but I am sure it has been done before, maybe?

With a cam like that I would stick with 1.5 rockers. You could run 1.6s but the drivablity would be worse.

what exaclty causes a loss in driveability?? is it duration or lift?
I was under the impression it was mostly duration and i vaguely remeber someone saying that increasing lift lessens cam surge...

and for 1997rblckSS...
my porter sugjested it....he is a very old school style guy, and use to do it all the time..... summit even sell sets of 8 1.5s and 8 1.6s

Thought it could be done, wasn't sure though, thanks for the FYI...

Duration does kill drivablity...sorry I got it confused for a second there. I would still stay away from the 1.6s due to valve clearence, you probably could get away with it but I'm not sure.

BTW, a coworker has 1.5s on the intakes and 1.6s on the exhaust. It sounds pretty good, the only reason he did it was to get a cam-like noise until he gets his cc305. Otherwise there is no real reason for it (there are some exceptions). Go with the 1.6 all the way around or 1.5s all the way around IMO.

EDIT: mkae sure to use roller rockers over the stock stamped ones if you go with 1.5s.

Get a new cam. Single pattern won't produce max hp unless your setup has killer exhaust flow. Even LSx cars run dual pattern, and those heads are worlds away better than ours.
