Rods

Does anyone know the weight of the stock rods? I was looking at a set of eagle 4340 rods 5.700 in length and i would like to know if anyone has had any problems or if they have any good comments about them? I dont want aluminum rods, but i do want a set of light forged that will hold a pretty good shot of nitrous. Any coments?

Thanx,

Zach

I have a set of the 4340 forged Eagle rods and I have been very happy with them. So far I have had no problems.

I have the H beams for my stroker I know that Eagles are the only rods I really hear of having clearance problems with the oil pan. Mine did. Some guys just "massaged" their pans, I went and bought a Canton.

Eagle has a decent rep, but I prefer stuff made in the USA. Good rods that are a step above the Eagle rods are the Lunati Pro Mod rods and the Oliver forged rod. Both are $700.

thanx guys for the info, also does anyone know the differences in weight between stock and other rods? The lt1 rod is supposed to be pretty tuff like the "pink rods", and they hold around 500 horses correct? I want a light weight rotating assembly for a 355 with a shot of nitrous 150-200 occasionally. If the stock rods are the same weight i think the power will be fine or will it? Also what about cranks? thanks guys.

The stock rods with ARP bolts will be fine for your app. For an extra measure you can have a mach. shop clean up the ridges on the rods, it will be a little extra insurance. But I think you'll be fine with just the bolts.
