The 383 maxxed around 6200rpms. We knew we would not get those results from the get go being a 350 A4 and his being a 383 6-spd.
Yes,t he plan is to go with a different cam to bring the power back down in usuable rpms for the street once I know all the other parts are working correctly and I'm sure I don't have any other problems else where that are being overlooked.
Then I would wager a guess that 340 hp is right around where you should be if all the parts are working correctly. Unless you have noticed a real issue through something such as a missfire or a noise that shouldn't be there. Everything sounds about right for the results you'd see by dropping from a 383 to a 350 and changing from a 6 speed to an A4 as well as effectively chopping off around 500 rpm.

I have the driver side of the valve train thats very noisey while the pass side is fairly quiet. At cruise you can hear it fairly well even inside the car now that I've gotten the exhaust quietened down alot.
Was planning to go back and do a compression check and readjust the rockers to make sure there are no outstanding issues, if all checks out with a compression check before and after readjusting and the noisey valve train gets cured with no change in performance/drivability, then a new cam will be going in. Just didn't want to go thru a cam swap if there is an issue somewhere else.
Thanks for the info.
