Replacing Steering Rack. How much PS Fluid do I need??
I'm replacing the PS Rack today. How much PS fluid do I need.
Also, do I need a special tool to disconnect the Tie Rods?
Anyone have any experience with this? What should I look out for?
TIA

Re: Replacing Steering Rack. How much PS Fluid do I need??
I wouldn't imagine it would use more than 2 quarts. After my engine swap, I took off the cradle from the car and it didn't use a full quart bottle afterwards, so I'm sure it won't take more than 2 bottles after a full drain.
Are you reffering to outer tie rods? Disconnect from inner tie rods or from the knuckle?
From inner tie rods, it's a piece of cake. Just hold down the nut and unscrew the tie rod. Real easy.
From the knuckle, it MIGHT be a little more complicated, but not as bad as taking the knuckle off the ball joint. It may be stuck in, so you might want to use a fork to take it out, but I just gave mine a light tap with a rubber mallet.

I'm looking to remove the Tie Rods and Steering rack together, so I imagine I would have to remove the tie rods from the ball joint?

Harbor Freight sells a tie rod spearator (puller type tool) for around $8 that makes separating the tie rod from the steering knuckle really easy. As far as fluid goes, I think you'd be safe with 2 quarts; you can always buy a 3rd and take it back. Use a flare wrench (18mm) on the steering lines where they mount to the rack.
