Air filter:placement

i bought a 3'' k and n air filter from kragens that i was going to add at the end of my intake to replace the air box(air box keeps coming off). can i put the filter right after the mas air flow sensor and remove the last part of piping. and what is the hose that runs to the end of the intake like 2inchs thick can it be removed what does it run two.just a temp fix until i get the rest of the piping redone!

Placing th K&N filter on the end of the MAF will be sucking hot air into your engine...not a good idea. There are two hoses that feed air into your system upstream of the MAF; one feeds the smog pump and other small tube feeds the opti if you have a vented opti (95+).

If your low on cash just buy one of the cheap Cold Air Intake kits off ebay. I know they arent the greatest in the world but it would be a good temporary thing until u can afford a better one, plus I think they look good. U can get them with everything needed for about $50 shipped to your door.
