Replacement Distributor

Since my optispark distributor has a bad bearing I am thing of replacing it with a rebuilt unit from a local parts store. It comes without the module. Looking at my old distributor it looks like the wheel has to come off to change out the module. How does the whell come off? I am looking at going this route as opposed to a complete unit since I have a new MSD cap and rotor that came with the car. Thanks.

What year is your car? Some are tack welded and others are screwed on.

Think carefully about whether you want to buy a "hit or miss" rebuilt unit from an auto parts store. The new OEM units are the most reliable.

It is a 1995 Firebird Formula 5.7.

On the vented Optis, the wheel is held on by the rotor screws:
