Replace slightly used lifters in new engine after a spun bearing?

just replaced the lifters in my motor about 2000 miles ago, spun a bearing and found metal in the oil, do I have to replace my lifters now? Can I clean them out? Or will they not have any metal in them?

I am not a expert engine builder but i would not reuse them. I would replace them so I wouldnt have to worry about it when I got it back together.

If you thoroughly/adequately cleaned them (you may have to take them apart), I don't see why they would not be ok to re-use.

As long as you thoroughly inspect the rollers and bodies and can pull them apart / reassemble them for cleaning as mentioned without marking them up them should be OK.

If you can get them apart and cleaned perfectly, then yes. If not, no...

You are going to have the engine tanked and redone with new cam bearings correct ?

so basically pop out the retaining clip and pull out the plunger and spring and wash them out thoroughly and then reassemble and I should be good?

Right. As long as you can remove all foreign matter, you should be ok. Be sure to get them reassembled properly and make real sure the retaining clip is properly in the groove.

alright, thanks a lot, I have unfortunately disassembled a few in the past, so other than some frustration I should be good to go
