removing solenoid when removing erg/airpump
removing solenoid when removing erg/airpump
Hi,
I am in the final stage of assembling my LT1. I am not gonna put air pump on, and I already pluged the holes in the back of the intake manifold. My project took me two months, and I forgot where 3 solenoids go on my intake manifold. I am guessing that one of the solenoids belongs to the EGR stuff, and I don't need to put it on. Maybe somebody knows which solenoid I don't need to put on, and maybe somebody could send me some close pictures of their intake manifold with solenoids on. I am lost with putting the solenoids on. Some websites would help me a lot.
Thanks for any help
Tomas

Do a search for "Shoebox".... go to his website... he has pic's of all this stuff, labled.
Your post is a little confusing... the AIR system doesn't attach to the back of the intake, it connects to the exhaust manifolds on each side. Its the EGR that has the supply line on the passenger side/back of the intake, and the EGR on the center/back. The EGR and AIR systems have NOTHING to do with each other.
There is a solenoid associated with EGR, and it mounts at the back of the intake manifold on the passenger side. How are you "deleting" the EGR in the PCM? In general, the OBD-I setups will not set a code for a missing EGR (usually, but not always). However, you will get a code if the solenoid is missing unless you substitute a resistor, or program EGR out of the PCM.
There is a solenoid on the passenger side of the intake for the EEC canister purge.
Not sure where the third one goes... .there isn't one associated with OBD-I AIR, unless the 95 is differnt than my 94.

I've got a couple of over-zoomed pictures in my "teardown" directory on my website:

The dual solenoid is your EVAP canister purge solenoid. The single solenoid goes on your driver's side, and is for the EGR. Make sure you plug that vacuum line.

Thanks a lot Fred and "trax". Those pictures will help me a lot. I am a bit confused about putting everything together, but I have a friend madwolf, who does custom programming in the board (great guy), and I hope he will reprogram my PCM.
