Removing emissions

I know that I will need egr block off plates. But what else will I need to eliminate emissions once I do my headers? And where do all of the block off plates go? Pictures would be very helpfull.

Re: Removing emissions

Define "remove emissions". EGR appears to be on your list. Go to Shoebox's Tech Pages for photos of EGR components.

http://shbox.com/1/egr1.jpg

One plate on #8 exhaust manifold runner (not required if your headers have no EGR connection), one plate where the corrugated tube attaches to the back of the intake manifold. One plate where the EGR valve bolts on. Remove all vacuum lines and cap the vacuum nipple on the side of the intake manifold. You will get codes for deleting the solenoid and for no EGR flow. These either need to be programmed out of the PCM, or spoofs installed to prevent SES light/codes.

AIR - remove pump, plug air supply connection on inlet air ducting with a 5/8" vacuum cap, plug vacuum line nipple where line to AIR bleed attaches (if you car had the AIR recall), plug the holes in each exhaust manifold where the check valves attached (not required if your headers do not have AIR connections). Programming required to delete SES light/codes.

Catalytic convertors - Are you deleting them? If so, you need the after-cat O2 sensors programmed out of the PCM, or you need O2 "sims" to avoid SES light/codes.

Any other "emissions" you want to delte?

Re: Removing emissions

Alright, thank you for your help. I found a web site that sells the egr block off plates www.sjmmanufacturing.com . I am pretty sure I will just need The egr intake kit, is this correct? Or will I need the 3 plate kit?

Re: Removing emissions

If your headers do NOT have a connecton for the EGR tube, you don't need a blockoff plate for the headers. You would just need the covers for the two holes on the back of the intake manifold.

Re: Removing emissions

Alright, thank you for your help. I think I better understand what to get now. I just ordered some pacesetter long tubes with no emissions. So I'm on my way to getting all this stuff done finaly . I've had enough with all this talk and no getting to work, lol.
