Removing AIR smog pump

I put some non emission headers on, and removed the Air pump and EGR and all the hoses and vacum sensors. I am not sure what all I need to remove and keep so I pretty much pulled everything and anything that was tied into the emissions system . Also should I just plug any vacume lines from the intake manifold?

Thats what i did. I havent saw if my car starts yet or not though . I pulled all the lines and hoses and vacum lines off, and put a cap on the intake to close the vacum.

Yes, just plug the vac line that ran from teh driver's side of the intake to the EGR solenoid.

Have you ordered block off plates for the back of the intake yet? You'll need 2 Steve over at www.SJMmanufacturing.com makes a great 2 plate kit for really cheap. It's what I run.

If you dont want to set an SES light keep the EGR Solenoid plugged in, but the vacuum lines can be tossed. With AIR, leave the fuses and relays in their spots till you have time to program out the codes. Once you do that you can pull the fuses, relays, solenoids w/o setting any codes.

Re: Removing AIR smog pump

On the OBD-II cars, he will get codes for removing both EGR and AIR. Keeping the EGR solenoid plugged in, and making sure there's a good fuse in the AIR relay circuit only works on OBD-I. He is going to have an SES for the missing EGR valve, and another for the missing AIR pump. He will also have a vacuum line for the AIR pump (may depend on whether AIR "recall" work was done on the car) that he has to plug.

You can't use the same procedures on a 97 OBD-II that you guys used on your 94 and 95 OBD-I cars.
