Reinstalling clutch fork
Reinstalling clutch fork
When i removed my trans, i saw thje clutch fork was on the throwout berring, i unbolted the bolt that held it to the trans. I just bolted it back on so i can be ready to put the trans back in. One problem, there is ALOT of play up and down and side to side with this clutch fork. Is this normal? Will the play go away when i click this thing on the throwout berring?
Make sure you have the spring clip on the fork OFF the ball. The fork should be real loose and floppy. After you get the tranny bolted up, you put the "C" end of the fork over the T/O bearing, and push it in hard, seating the spring clip on the ball, and the "C" in the bearing. It won't move around at all.
What spring clip, is it ont he fork or the trans? I understand the C part of the frork locks with the throwout berring, but what is the spring clip your talking about? I thought the fork was one solid peice.
Go take a look at the fork. It has a long slot in the middle that allows it to be pulled back, off the bearing, and off the ball on the tranny. In the slot, ON THE FORK, there is a bent metal spring that snaps down on the ball when you push the fork in, and holds the fork on the ball, keeps it from falling off the bearing. The "C" doesn't "hold" anything.
I'm sure I've shown you this photo before.

ok i went to look at the fork, and i saw the clip your talking about. Its right around the bolt that bolts tot he trans, I dont see how this acts with the trowout berring though, does the brring actualy sit in the C portion of the fork? I am confused, have another diagram?
