refresh my memory, changing plugs

yeah i'm sure that my plugs are original (75k miles) and i think that they are way tired.

i did the 7 easy ones on my friends 95z like 3 years ago, and when we didnt have the tools to get the illusive 8th one out, he brought it to the mechanic. i dont feel like paying 3 times what the plugs cost to have a guy do one for me.

what tools do i need or does anyone have a tech page that shows you how to get to that one? that and since i wanna replace some little things before the season winds down, what should i do besides wires/plugs/fuel filter? the car hasnt cost me anything since i've owned it so i dont mind dropping a few hundred and a handful of hours doing it.

It's been a while since I changed plugs with the stock manifolds - which I'm assuming you have - but I remember it was easier to get to some of the plugs from underneath the car and it was worth pulling the alternator to get the #2 plug (front pass. side). A spark plug socket, open end wrench to fit on that, a 3/8ths ratchet for the ones you can use it on and a spark plug boot puller is nice. Have fun! I don't miss my stock manifolds.

Seven easy one hard is sort of optimistic...chuckle.

The ones on the drivers side are relatively easy. The passenger side is pretty not easy. If you drop the y-pipe you can get the back two fairly easily, from underneath, removing the alternator helps get the front two from the top. The air pump cross over pipe makes it a little tougher than it has to be...

All in all, expect to spend a few hours doing it. Long tube headers make it much easier....believe it or not!

#8 Plug Change

I just changed the plugs on my 96 m6 a couple weeks back. I removed the starter and used a closed end 5/8th wrench with a slight offset and had it out and in after about 10 minutes of starter removal.
