Exclamation REBUILD KIT + CAM KIT!!!! I need your opinion

Ok people lets say you had between $1000 and $1400 to play with on just parts for a rebuild... on a DAILY DRIVER!

What combination of Cams and rebuild kits would you get?
I was thinking Hot Cam Kit
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...2&autoview=sku

And this Federal Mogul Premium Engine Rebuild Kit
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

It comes out to be about $1148 + tax. .

I noticed when I search summit for LT1 REBUILD KIT it gives me about 20 different kits to choose from all by Federal Mogul.

Now of course some are Hypereutectic Flat and some are Forged Flat (why would I choose one over the other? I don’t plan on spraying at all) and some are 44.040 in. Bore, .010 in. Rod, .010 in or 4.030 in. Bore, .020 in. Rod, .020 or .000 in. Bore, Standard Rod, I’m confused which one do I need and why??

I was on a budget build a while back as well and I went with the summit forged kit with Speed Pro pistons. I then purchased some Eagle Forged I Beam rods and reused my stock crank and I have loved the kit so far. I have had a LE2/GM847 setup pushing 425rwhp and never had any problems seeing 7k rpms.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this "budget build" kit. I also know that N20TA on here did 10's with the same "budget build".

So that should give you some reassurance.

I would also suggest purchasing the Sir I beam rods since they are only like $200 dollars and these are the things that seem to break on our motors. Purchased a used hotcam kit, or piece a hotcam kit together. I have an extra cam laying around that is close to the hotcam, cc501 and extra lifters, 986 springs etc. I imagine I am not the only one here with extra stuff in their garage and these things can be had for pretty cheap.

I would suggest to spend the money in the bottom end now, you can always unbolt some heads/cam later on if you dont have the money.

Replace lifters, replace springs, stock 1995' pushrods are fine and stock rockers are fine for now.

That looks like like the cc305 kit to me, but im not too familiar with the valvetrain kits from comp.
