rear main

Hey guys, noticed an pretty bad oil leak while i was under the car the other day...i'm pretty sure its ther rear main seal. A drip of oil comes out in from in between the tranny and the back of the engine...i also noticed that the clutch is slipping a bit, most likely do to oil dripping on it...comments/suggestions...and any idea how long it takes to fix?

My father is a mechanic at a GM dealer and he changed it for me. It took us about couple hours at his shop. You have to pull the tranny out, so if you are thinking about doing it in your garage, all I can say is good luck!!

Check to see that the leak isn't coming from the back of the intake manifold...common leak area!

it's definately not the back of the intake manifold...i fixed that leak over the summer...haha...but i ran my finger along the back of it just to make sure and there's definately no oil there. Clutch is slipping real bad too...will i need a new clutch or will the oil dry out of this one eventually?

Yeah, once the clutch has oil on it, there is no going back.
