R & R Fuel Filter
R & R Fuel Filter
Hey guys:
Going to re and re my fuel filter tonight. The guy at the dealership said I can release the fuel pressure by removing the cap and pulling the fuel pump fuse and turning the ignition to on. Is that good enough? I have heard about this schreader value but hear it is difficult to find.

If you have a healthy fuel system, it will hold pressure in the supply line for quite a while. Depressing the core of the Schrader valve (in addition to removing the gas cap) will eliminate any residual pressure. Hold a rag over it, and do it when the engine is cold. The Schrader valve is right behind the passenger side fuel rail. As usual, Shoebox has the "visual aids":

I also have a step by step procedure. The scrader valve has a little threaded cap on it (it's like a tire valve).
