Quick inline fuel pump wiring question..
Quick inline fuel pump wiring question..
O.K. I'm putting on a Warlbro in-line pump and I figure I will mount it in the back just before the fuel filter. I was wondering if I need to just run the power to the fuse box to a spot with power when the key is on or do I need to tap into the wires going to the stock pump? Would that blow the fuse with two pumps?
I'm thinking I need to just put it to key on power, but I thought I'd check. Thanks.

You want to use a relay... not wire it direct. And definitely do NOT run it off the stock fuel pump wiring... you will kill the voltage to both pumps.
The NOS 5176 kit comes with a great set of instructions for installing an inline pump in the back, before the filter without cutting the fuel lines. It also includes the best wiring solution, which is to run a HEAVY power line (with 20-amp fuse) direct from the red +12V distribution box next to the battery, to a 30-amp relay in the hatch area. Take the relay activation signal off the +12V wire in the harness for the stock fuel pump. The stock wires run over the axle hump and into the tank. That way both pumps turn on and off together.
The NOS instructions are really very clear and make the job very easy. I can fax you a copy if you provide a fax number.

Thanks allot for the info. I don't really have access to a fax machine. Do you have a scanner? Could you e-mail it? I didn't figure running them both on the same line would work at all, But I wanted to figure out how to get it to turn on and off with the other pump. I've got it pretty much figured out from your description, I just need to figure out the connectors on a relay now.
