Question for anyone with a manual fan switch

Do you turn the fans on low, at times, and on high at other times or do you just manually switch them on high?

The reason I'm asking is I'm getting ready to do one but I'm wondering if I really need the low position. Or if when you need it, is it best just to kick them on high anyway???

No big deal but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks

I think you'll be alright using the high setting only, but I don't see why you couldn't get a double position switch to wire the other one too.

i wired mine in using the stock wires on the fuse box so if i ever need it to be stock again. using stock relays so i didnt have to buy any. Just make sure you use a relay on your fan mod or your asking for trouble

Back when mine was stock, I had the switch installed. On low, it would keep the car at around 190 or so. On high, the car would hardly stray from 180. The only reason I would put it on low was to cut down on the noise. The two fans on high make quite a racket that can be heard over the engine and exhaust. Given that it won't cost any more to do the two position switch, why not make it so you have the choice?

Yo

I want to do this to my Formula when I get it... how much does it cost to get done and how much of a hassle? Also... do you leave it on always? Or just when your about to race, or when it just starts to get hot?

There's a couple ways. You could purchase a switch that hooks right into your harness or wire it in youself with your own materials. I don't have the instructions handy. As far as operation, I use mine on low in town and keep an eye on it. In heavy traffic I use it on high when it's real hot out and try not to let it get over 190. On the highway I don't need it at all. It works pretty good for me. The kit is 60 bucks from www.slponline.com.

I only run the fans on high. I have a 3 pos switch that operates stock/ fans/ fans + electric wp. It's great.

I have the SLP fan switch. It is the best/easiest to install one out there i think.

I used to use it all the time but after getting my PCM reprogramed it my fans come on by themsleves at around 180.

I used the low setting in slow moving trafic like when cruising. I didn't ever really have to use the high setting since the low setting kept temps around 180.

Thanks
Shawn
