Angry LT1 and 87 Octane-will it run right? 87 Octane up to $2.07 here in Phoenix.

Well Gas in Phoenix is a pain to get now, most stations are out of Premium and some have none at all. 87 Octane is like $2.07 now and I can't ind premium anywhere. I am forced to use ARCO now ....Will my car run right on that crap??? Does anyone else here have a gas shortage problem????? All I can get now is 87 ARCO in 112 degree heat---I foresee bad pinging problems now

I don't think you would have a problem. I've ran 87 in my car before. The only difference I noticed was that it didn't run as smooth as it did with premium, but I didn't get any pings.

I just got back in the states after being stationed in Japan for six years. On base there our gas was about $1.44. That was a set price for the entire year and when I got here to California, in March, the gas prices were $2.17 for 87. They dropped down to $1.55 for the 87 for a little while, but now they're going back up again. I'm paying $1.99 for 92 and the 87 is as about $1.77. This BITES!

you'll definitely lose performance with the lower octane, but i can't say it'll be safe. but what can ya do? The reason you don't hear any pinging with the lower octane is b/c the computer tries to adjust the timing to cancel it out, and with 87, its gonna have to adjust the timing so far to cancel the pining, that performance is really going to suffer. If you have to run 87, i would suggest taking it easy on the ol girl, no real heavy loading of the engine (say 45 mph in 6th if its a manual)

You shouldn't be whining, that's a damn good price. We in Cali pay more for the stuff we're shipping you

I'll agree though, Arco =

I just read on CNN.COM that California is going to be raising there gas prices by .50 cents by the end of summer and there raising the electrical too...Sorry to say...But I think it's time to move out of California.....That state has gone to Hell in the last 5 years anyways..too expensive to live there !!! I saw a 900 square foot house there for over 200,000.00 thats crazy. Out here in Arizona 200K can buy a 2700+ foot home 3 Car and RV Parking ...Which is alot of room to work on our cars ..Anyways I guess I'll run the 87 ARCO and maybe add a little octane booster to it...NO more racing around for awhile untill we get our 91 Octane back

California has gone down the **** hole...i thought prices where going down after the war but instead they are going up. its all some sick ****ing game that the fat *** rich peices of **** play. raising and lowering gas prices like a roller coaster. here in SD gas is up to about 2.30 and rising. i hate california. ****ing the crappiest state. everyhting is expensive, its crowded to hell and everything is illegal. and when you get busted they fine you like a million dollars. theres no jobs out here either and when you finaly do find one, its the ****tiest job and for even ****ier pay. im soooo tempted to just pack my bags and get the **** out.
i think ima vote for arnold or something and see if ther improves **** around here. if not ima go postal or something.

Yeah Cali prices suck. It is like 2.03 for 87. Then jumps up to 2.22 for the 91 octane. Thats at 76 gas station. Chevron is even worse. But what can you do. Its almost like your gonna have to have some hybrid piece of crap to just get by over here soon.

I've lived in this sorry A$$ state for five months now and all I can think about on a daily basis it the world would better off if it just slid into the ocean or something. I'm getting the hell out of the military and moving to Tennessee where the gas is only $1.45 for 92, no smog inspection, and you can make moon shine in your back yard and nobody gives a damn!
