Question Question about intake elbow and optispark?

This may sound kinda of dumb, but if you have a the donkey dong on your intake elbow, does that mean you have a non-vented optispark? Because when i run my Vin # it comes up as a 95 (which would use the vented optispark), but when i check the date on the door it reads a 94 (non-vented). I just want to make sure i ordered the right part before i tear into my engine to replace it.

You have a 95 Vented one. Cars produced in November are counted as the next year model. The 'donkey dong' - usually refered to as the elephant - does not indicate what opti style you have.

Yeah my '95 T/A was made in august of '94 and is a '95. Remember that next years models come out way before that year arrives, so they're making them way before that. If you have that little tube with the blue plastic piece on the end that goes into the top of your elbow (which I'm sure you will), then you have the vented Opti. Good luck, the 1LE elbow is nice.

is it just as useful to buy a resonator delete plug from Thunder Racing for $35, instead of a 1LE Elbow?

Before I got my 1LE elbow (had to get it, I ripped the old one), I just cut off the top part of the resonator and left like 4 in of the bottom and then clamped it in place. Why pay $35 for something you can make for free with a hack saw? Plus why do you need it to be shiny metal when you never see it?? A waste of money in my opinion.

Mine was made in Aug of '94 also. What are the last 6 digits of your VIN. Mine are 100752.

The last six digits of my VIN are 201591, I'll have to double check the date, it might actually be september.

Are you sure the last 6 digits aren't 101591. Reason I ask is the production sequence starts at 100001, that being the first car built for the year.

Resonator Delete Plug
Your elbow is going to need replacement sometime, so wait until it gets a rip and then replace it with a 1LE. Removing the silencer has no performance advantage. It is just more convenient not to have it dangling there.
For a few dollars more than what you would spend on the plug, you could have a new elbow (if purchased from Jason or Dal-not Thunder).

The 1LE elbow is also made of thicker rubber, less prone to tearing.
